Hilarious in Hindsight: Exasperated with the events of the episode, SpongeBob sarcastically asks "What's next, a zombie invasion?" before a bunch of poisoned customers start moaning like zombies. A later episode would feature a full-on Zombie Apocalypse brought on by a new Krabby Patty formula Gone Horribly Wrong.
Sing a Song of Patrick:
Alternate Character Interpretation: Did Spongebob really like Patrick's song? Or was he just trying to be nice to his friend? While the song was playing, Spongebob looked just as miserable as everyone else, but he went on to say it was the "best song he ever heard" and support Patrick's efforts to get his song on the air? Another possibility is that he didn't like the song but, being Spongebob, optimistically assumed that someone else would.
Broken Base: A lot of people find this an entertaining and funny episode, but other people find the episode bad because of it being a “Patrick’s a Prick” episode, and the out-of-place dark joke of the entire band dying after performing Patrick’s song might not help.
Crosses the Line Twice: The band dying? Sad. The cause of death being from recording Patrick’s song, coupled with the sudden Smash Cut to their graves? Hilarious.
