• Ass Pull: Karen somehow recording exactly what happened in the last part of the flashback to properly reveal how Mr. Krabs and Plankton lost their friendship and the former creating the formula. She states she did so while as a “security system” but is never once seen nor mentioned in the flashback, itself.
• Harsher in Hindsight: This episode showed that Krabs was willing to repair his friendship with Plankton, but sadly, later episodes completely contradict this and it seems he doesn’t want to repair it after all. The worst examples are "Plankton’s Regular" and "One Coarse Meal."
• Tear Jerker: This episode can hit too close to home for anyone who has lost a friend over something trivial or has been bullied as a kid just for being different. Mr. Krabs and Plankton were clearly good friends, but sadly their inability to accept responsibility for their mistake during the Plab Patty Incident burned their friendship to the ground, with Mr. Krabs becoming beloved by the bullies who used to torment him after inventing the Krabby Patty, while Plankton only further descended into evil and resentment for his former friends' success. Compared to their youth, the bitter rivals they've become (and by the first film, truly despised enemies) is sobering.
