Franchise Original Sin: The episode has Mr. Krabs at his worst; he builds a shabby and very unsafe playground, caring more about their money and his windows than the children's happiness (and safety) and even stating it in front of them, and has SpongeBob put himself through lots of torture just to entertain them. But at least here, he got his comeuppance. Later seasons would have Mr. Krabs engaging in outright criminal activity just as bad, if not worse than this and get off scot-free. The Kafka Komedy that would take over in later seasons is also prevalent, as mentioned before, as SpongeBob goes through severe pain and humiliation to keep the children happy and said children certainly aren't the sweetest little kids.
Hilarious in Hindsight: The "dramatic reveal" of Krabby Land and its empty nature somehow gets even more prophetic when a similar event happened for the infamous Willy's Chocolate Experience 20 years after this episode aired, which caused a surge of interest in the episode.
SpongeBob deliberately pouring bubble soap into his eyes is often edited to have it be a bottle of Clorox in response to anything considered Brain Bleach.
Cheapy the CheapskateExplanationSpongeBob's accusatory name for his boss which the internet has used to accuse other people, especially large corporations, as being incredibly cheap with their products or events. Especially with the aforementioned Willy's Chocolate Experience, labeled by some as "Cheapy the Cheapskate's Chocolate Factory".
The Camping Episode:
Franchise Original Sin: Squidward's Butt-Monkey status is in full gear, which is hilarious here because it's largely a result of his own arrogance and refusal to listen to SpongeBob and Patrick's advice that keeps those two safe from harm. By contrast, in later seasons where viewers end up feeling sorry for him, his misfortune directly comes from the hands of SpongeBob and Patrick, who are ultimately left without a scratch or punishment.
"The Campfire Song Song", which is referenced and sung for its simplicity and silliness. It even appeared in Family Guy.
"Write that down! Write that down!"ExplanationSpongeBob telling Patrick to write down Squidward's poor attempt at tent making. Internet users reference this meme whenever they come across vital information, like life hacks or scandalous drama, and insist on sharing it with everyone.
