YMMV / Spheres of Power

Go To

  • Game-Breaker: One in 1st Edition Pathfinder comes from mixing Spheres of Might with Path of War on the same character. While neither book on their own will result in any issue, allowing a character that is built on both books risks the chance of an overpowered character build that has the the versatility of a Path of War character and the damage dealing potential of a Spheres of Might character. As a result, most GMs who allow both books to be used in their sessions will make access to the two books mutually exclusive for every character, with the wiser exceptions banning certain options such as Seize the Opportunity or the Respect Bushido.
  • High-Tier Scrappy: The Sage class of Champions of the Spheres stands out in a system otherwise more balanced than core Pathfinder as basically a better version of the Incanter class. While having 10 fewer talents overall than the Incanter, they get 10 combat talents and 10 blended talents, and full caster level with any magic talents they take, along with being innately versatile and powerful without any talents thanks to the ki-powered abilities given by Esoteric Training. On top of this, all the Sage's saves are good, they have a high caster level, an Armor Class bonus if unarmoured, their Chi Gong is a touch attack that also functions as a sneak attack, their meditation allowing them to add a bonus 1d6 to checks, etc. Naturally many GMs have barred players from playing as this class.
