  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • While Randy thinking Blockbuster stores might still be viable after the rise of Netflix was laughable in 2012, ten years later he might have a point. Netflix reported it was starting to have a notable loss of subscribers in 2022, and getting everything that was on Netflix in 2012 has become far more expensive, not just because Netflix subscriptions themselves have but because several other services have popped up resulting in a lot being taken off the service so customers have to subscribe to Disney+, HBO Max, etc. to watch everything Netflix previously had.
    • Randy’s behavior with the Blockbuster would end up being foreshadowing of a sort for what he’d do with Tegridy Farms. Forcing his family to work despite not enjoying it (and isolating them from their friends in the process) and becoming obsessed with profit above all else. Shelly trying to burn it down even calls to Stan’s past actions in Post Covid special. Getting so fed up with the farm and the problems it caused between his parents he tried to burn it down, accidentally killing Shelly, and driving Sharon to suicide in the process.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: While video rental stores won't be coming back any time soon, physical media has made a modest resurgence as of 2023. The reason for this being is that with streaming services purging many beloved franchises and movies with minimal warning, many have gone back to physical media as a more convenient substitute if they meet the fate of being dropped by streaming services.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Randy claims that "Netflix, Hulu and Crackle still don't make the money Blockbuster does". Aside from the fact that many more streaming services have popped up since 2012, Crackle has proven to be a failure, with Sony selling it off several years later.
