YMMV / South Park S15 E7 "You're Getting Old"

• Broken Base: Despite not dealing with any particularly sensitive topics (only including a few Take That!s at Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler movies), this is one of the most controversial episodes of the show's run, mostly boiling down to it's portrayal of Stan. Many believed the episode showed a very effective portrayal of depression through the character, and believe that him being The Cynic makes sense considering he's been dealing with the town's antics for years. Others believe the entire Break the Cutie arc to be painful and too bleak for its own good, with many people accusing the episode of ruining Stan's character, which isn't helped by future episodes and specials dealing with his depression as well, essentially making this episode a pivotal moment for Stan.
• Diagnosed by the Audience: Stan's symptoms for Cynicism include all five of his senses interpreting things as shit. Music to him sounds like someone shitting themselves, food tastes like shit, even people talking to him is sometimes swapping to farting noises with turd flying out of their mouths.
• Ho Yay: The episode ends with Cartman and Kyle playing Xbox together following them cutting ties with Stan. They briefly glance at each other, only to then smile at each other, clearly enjoying each others' company for once.
