- Hilarious in Hindsight: In one scene, Cartman sings "Poker Face" on Rock Band. Several months later, Cartman's version of "Poker Face" would be released as DLC alongside the original Lady Gaga version of the song.
- Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: In spite of the Japanese's rather antagonistic portrayal, some inaccuracies about Japanese culturenote and an appearance of Emperor Akihito himself which is considered to be taboo, the Japanese fans like this episode. It may be due to the depictions of notorious actions by the radical animal activists and the cruel outcome of the atomic bombing, which are often overlooked (or even justified) by Western people.
- Misaimed Fandom: Matt and Trey were annoyed with Paul Watson and animal right activists' praise for the episode when they made it specifically to trash Watson and his show rather than make any statement on whale poaching.
