• Misaimed Fandom: The subplot of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg raping Indiana Jones was meant to be a Take That! to people who claim that a bad movie (or TV show) from a franchise they liked in their youth "raped" their childhood, but many fans thought it was meant to be taken seriously. Granted, Trey and Matt weren't shy about pointing out the flaws in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and given how Butters, the show's butt-monkey, was the only person who considered the movie good, it's understandable how some fans misinterpreted the point of the episode.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: As detailed in Misaimed Fandom, the exact types of fans Matt and Trey intended to mock with the "Indiana Jones was raped!" plotline ended up thinking that Matt and Trey were serious and on their side. The exact same thing would happen 15 years later in response to the duo's jabs at online movie critics of the "anti-woke" variety in South Park: Joining the Panderverse.
