- Crosses the Line Twice: The game manages to get so disgusting and gross that it becomes hilarious again. It's up for debate if it comes right back around to disturbing.
- Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory:
- The wiki observes that the game connects vore and pregnancy fetishes into recurring death-rebirth symbolism: Tails eaten and "birthed" by Sonic, the player character ending up in Rouge's innards and exiting, the player character disappearing into Sonic's eye vortex and becoming a hedgehog-man, and (most blatantly) the Sonic recolors being consumed by Eggman to become angels and then reincarnate.
- While the game is obviously making some kind of commentary on Sonic's fandom, one reviewer
in particular argues that this commentary is not simple mockery or moral judgement, but rather a study of how fetishes can imprint onto some people during adolescence and affect the way they interact with each other, even years into adulthood. The reviewer promptly makes it clear that there's no way to know whether this was the developers' actual intention or not.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- The "Make My Sonic" game, now that Sonic Forces has the Custom Hero. Especially since the former is a parody of Sonic fan characters and the latter is essentially Sega embracing the idea.
- Four years after this game came out, we'd get more disturbingly realistic/humanoid Sonic characters in an officially licensed piece of media.
- Retroactive Recognition: The game's lead developer Ben Esposito would later become more well known for his work on the games Tattletail and Donut County.
