• Character Rerailment: After being generally Out of Focus in recent games (particularly Sonic Forces, which heavily advertised him, yet he was never actually in it), Metal Sonic returns to being more than just a generic enforcer for Eggman, whose drive to outdo Sonic is so strong that he once again disobeys his actual assignment— this time protecting the amusement park— in order to defeat Sonic by any means necessary.
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: Throughout the shorts, Orbot keeps calling Metal Sonic “Big Bro”. While there is not much of a sign Metal reciprocates the feeling, the next game would reveal Sage, who sees Orbot and Cubot as her brothers before even meeting them.
