YMMV / SongBird Symphony

Go To

  • Complete Monster: The Owl is protagonist Birb's seemingly friendly advisor, who is eventually revealed to be far worse. In the past, he wiped out almost all of the songbirds out of a desire for power, with Birb's mother being the only survivor. With the songbirds nearly extinct, the world became a worse place, with nobody knowing he was responsible. Manipulating Birb into powering up his artifact by collecting song notes, the Owl tries to murder him before he gets the final note. When Birb gets the final note, he holds the protagonist's mother and adoptive uncle hostage, threatening to kill them if he doesn't sing the last note.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Birb and Eggbert's friendship. Even though Birb tells him to stay at the Gallus Palace where it's safe, Eggbert insists on coming along to help Birb with his quest.
    • Birb gathers ingredients to heal an unconscious Eggbert. It pays off in a Karmic Jackpot where Eggbert comes to the rescue on hearing that Birb and his family are in danger, freeing them from the Owl's cages
    • The Lyrebird thanking Uncle Pea for saving her son. On realizing she has nowhere to go, Uncle Pea invites her to stay with him and Birb. Cue a Maybe Ever After.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • The memorials built in the myna bird mine for the songbirds. It gets worse when we learn they were slaughtered for the crime of singing prosperity into the world.
    • The penultimate stage of the game, where Birb runs away from Uncle Pea after learning that he definitely isn't a peacock and no one knows who or what he is. Uncle Pea starts sobbing Tears of Remorse as the Owl ambushes him. Birb's sprite, meanwhile, is crying that he doesn't belong anywhere and refuses to return to his adoptive uncle.
    • The Lyrebird admitting why she didn't just tell Birb she was his mother; she had been hiding for so long from the Owl that she was afraid of revealing herself, even to her own son.
