• Alternative Character Interpretation - Most of the personality changes in the story are the characters shown in a softer/harsher light.
• Badass Decay - Minkah, after Kaiba buys, beats, and rapes him.

• Funny Moments: Minkah's claim that just maybe he would rather go and see how long he can hold his head under the water of the fountain at the park they hauled him across three times than spend another moment with Yugi and co.
  • Malik's line: If I weren't so relieved that you're not dying, I would kill you.
• Harsher in Hindsight - While not funny to begin with, Marik's comment, having only heard a bit about Ryou's cousin and not having met him, that Minkah can't be more messed up than him is cringe worthy when you learn just how completely messed up Minkah is.
• Heartwarming Moments: When Minkah finally starts to accept Ryou as a brother.
• Jerkass Woobie - Minkah, once the sequel starts to delve into his past.
• The Woobie - Marik
