YMMV / Solomon's Perjury

Go To

  • Base-Breaking Character: Ji-hoon himself. While some believe that he should shoulder all the blame for So-woo's death, others believe that while he does have some responsibility in this matter (which he tearfully owns up to), he can't really be blamed solely for his death, especially when you consider the circumstances(and his mental condition, plus the fact that he's still just a kid). Most people agree on the second opinion, and understandably so, as it's really hard to blame someone when you yourself aren't sure what you would have done in such a situation.

  • Fridge Brilliance: Ji-hoon, in one of the earliest episodes, says that So-woo wasn't someone who'd kill himself. What he truly meant was not that So-woo was murdered, but that ''something had happened that pushed So-woo to make the decision to end his life. .
  • Iron Woobie: Ji-hoon, oh GOD, JI-HOON. Poor guy really needs a hug, and a big one at that, after all the horrible things he has gone through, both in the past and present. Also counts as a Stoic Woobie.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Woo-hyuk. While it doesn't excuse his actions, it's clear that his cruel behavior is a result of the abuse his dad has inflicted on him, and at his core, he isn't really evil by any means. Thankfully, for him, Ji-hoon not only helps him as his defense counsel, but also helps him and his mother escape his abusive dad. AND he makes him reflect on and regret his actions, which enables Woo-hyuk to grow as a person and finally escape the abuse cycle.
    • Joo-ri is by no means a likable character, but her selfish behavior stems due to the extreme bullying that she suffered at the hands of Woo-hyuk and other students of the school.

  • Nightmare Fuel: Ji-hoon's past. It traumatized him to the point that he had to be admitted into a psychological hospital to receive proper treatment.
  • The Woobie:
    • Joon-young, what with his abusive mom and a really unhealthy family life, to the point that he even attempted suicide once. By the end of the series, though, his father finally realizes what he has been going through, and apologizes, saying they can start all over again. His mom also seems to be getting better.
    • Cho-rong. This poor li'l girl is probably one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, even willing to understand and befriend someone like Joo-ri. And despite being hurt by her countless times, she never holds any contempt towards her, or just about anyone in general.
    • Seo-yeon has her moments.
    • Given everything that happened to him up until his suicide, So-woo also could count as one.
