YMMV / Snix

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: "And Teenage Mutant Ninja Tur-" "Ohhhhhhhh" *Godzilla biting on a fighter jet*
    "What happened?"
    • "Some Samurai Butt!"
    • In Snix Again, during the big chase, in one shot James/Snix is attacked by a random child with a plastic sword who is gone in the very next shot.
  • Even Better Sequel: Each sequel gets better and better in terms of story telling, jokes, filming, editing, etc. Although, your mileage may vary as to whether the video game music, as opposed to the simple keyboard tracks, were an improvement or not.
  • Growing the Beard: After the second movie, James developed a structure that would expand to four more movies (from the second to the sixth that is), and even improved on how he could edit his footage.
  • Moment of Awesome: In the end of the fourth movie, James defeats the corpse of Snix, and takes the mask to a railroad, walking away as it gets ran over by a train, as Killer Instinct music plays.
  • So Bad, It's Good: James considers the original "the worst movie I ever made", but is still fond of it. He hopes that the films may become Cult Classics after they've been released on the internet.
    • Although, James from 1998 (as he appeared in a video introducing the movie) mentioned that he'd rather show the other Snix movies over the first one, indicating that it was just bad.
  • Special Effect Failure: Plenty- all part of the fun, of course:
    • Telephones of the time, if removed from their receivers while no calls were being made, would make an irritating beeping noise. To avoid distracting him in phone call scenes, Rolfe unplugged the phone's cord and taped it to the back- and you can clearly see the hole for the plug!
    • Snix's mask, supposedly ancient, is obviously just a hastily-cobbled-together hunk of construction paper.
    • The ghosts are all clearly just still images superimposed into the foreground of the camera.
    • There are several moments where James' instructions to the actors (like "okay, the camera's running") are still clearly audible. The first film also appears to have been taped over a recording of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. "SOME SAMURAI BUTT", indeed.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Each additional film after the first improves on some aspects, and this goes beyond better editing.
