• Americans Hate Tingle: The Sindy doll itself was hated in the US for being a ripoff of Barbie, and the movie didn't fare well there either.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: While Sindy is obviously a Barbie ripoff, many of it's elements (such as a unicorn main character, a villain with ice powers and a Royal marriage being one of the key plot points) would appear in the film Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus, which was released two years after this movie.
• They Copied It, So It Sucks!: Because Sindy is an obvious Expy of Barbie, and because the film's plot and aesthetics are reminiscient of Barbie as Rapunzel, it has this reputation.
