- Aluminum Christmas Trees: Ha ha! Ashtrays INSIDE by the elevators IN A HOSPITAL! That's funny! Actually, what's funny is that wasn't a joke - it was standard realistic set dressing for a hospital set in the 1970's.
- Dancing Bear: What, a Silent Movie? In 1976? No way. Gotta see this!
- Harsher in Hindsight: Marty Feldman's character is named Marty Eggs because Feldman's favorite food was eggs, a result of his vegetarianism. Unfortunately, nobody had warned him that eggs were not a healthy substitute, being high in cholesterol. This, combined with chain smoking, were a direct cause of his eventual fatal heart attack in 1982.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: "The first silent film in forty years" ...and it was nearly 40 years until the next major one came out.
- One-Scene Wonder: "NON!"
- Signature Scene: As it easily was and still is the funniest part, the joke of a mime providing the only audible dialogue in the film has been discussed quite a bit.
