  • Angst? What Angst?: Theo and Violet do not have any qualms about having sex on the Carpathia (if you take a premium option) mere hours after surviving the ordeal. And a few days later upon arrival on shore, Theo already proposes to Violet and (again a premium option) celebrate their survival. There is no emotional or physical trauma and the more than 1400 victims are hardly acknowledged.
  • Moral Event Horizon: The actions of Adele could be understood to a certain extent, as she was protecting the survival of her family. However, falsely accusing Theo of attacking Violet and locking Violet in her room for the remainder of the trip was for most fans the moment Adele crossed the line. If it wasn't for Loretta releasing Violet from her room, Adele would have indirectly killed her own sister. As such, many fans chose not to forgive her in the final chapter.
  • Narm: Theo "accidentally" meets Violet on multiple occasions. While it is intended romantic, most fans wonder how a stoker find the time to get off work and sneak in First Class areas the entire trip. Fans were even joking that this version of the Titanic took so long to reach the iceberg because the stokers weren't doing their job!
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Much of the criticism of this book is directed to the large focus on the romance. It is a story on the Titanic, the most famous ship in history. However, the Titanic itself is only marginally explored and the only historical character introduced was Captain Smith. Most of the story is Violet getting bored with her suitors, sneaking off with Theo and quickly returning to First Class to start all over again. A lot of fans complain that it is a generic story about a forbidden romance, but not unique to the Titanic. To illustrate, the above goes on until the end of Chapter 16 (when they are found out by Adele), followed by the fallout of this (which only lasts one chapter), the iceberg hits at the end of Chapter 17, and the entire sinking - from iceberg-hit to rescue on the RMS Carpathia - is covered in only two and a half chapters (with Chapter 20 being an epilogue of sorts). And it is even more of a waste, as Chapters 18 and 19 were well received by readers.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The artwork of the sinking ship, being half submerged and almost upright, is considered quite impressive.
