- Awesome Music:
- Quite a few, especially "Mandara" and the Shadow Master's theme.
- The first two stages hit players with the one-two punch of "Japonesque" and "Idaten". Both are fast-paced, uptempo pieces that, much like the rest of the OST, do a great job blending together traditional Japanese instrumentation with Genesis drums and synths. Notably, a glorious EDM medley of the two themes was used for the Seasonal Shrines track in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
- "Sakura" has to be mentioned; it practically makes the ending cutscene.
- Best Boss Ever: The Round 4-2 boss is a giant, armed to the teeth, Mecha-Destroyer Plane thing with two phases, and you fight it while surfing. Probably one of the coolest things the game has to offer
- Even Better Sequel: Shinobi III is regarded as even better than The Revenge of Shinobi in every way, especially the soundtrack and faster pace.
- Misattributed Song: Despite having worked on the soundtracks of previous entries, Yuzo Koshiro did not compose for Shinobi III. While this game's soundtrack lacks the experimental flair of Koshiro's work, it's awesome enough in its own right (thanks to the phenomenal work of Hirofumi Murasaki, Morihiko Akiyama, and Masayuki Nagao) that the mistake is easy to make.
- Nausea Fuel: Round 3-2 takes you through an area full of brown substance that looks too much like human waste for comfort. This is to say nothing of the boss.
- Signature Song: Besides "Japonesque" and "Idaten" mentioned above, there's "Whirlwind" — an intense song that plays during Round 4-1, the level where Joe is surfing against a bunch of enemies and machines.
