  • Critical Dissonance: This game received mixed reviews from critics, generally regarding it as So Okay, It's Average. Despite that, it was far more well-received by fans.
  • Demonic Spiders: Highlanders. They are a lot more common than in any other game in the series, their projectiles deal almost unavoidable Splash Damage and they are a lot faster than their size lets on.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • The Sniper Rifle. It packs a punch on par with the SBC Cannon, making what was formerly the strongest weapon in the series a whole ton less reliable.
    • The game has laughing gas as alternate ammo for the flamethrower. One short spread of this will cause any enemy, aside from bosses, to stop attacking completely, stand completely still, and ultimately Die Laughing.
  • Porting Disaster: The Playstation 2 version feels like a massive downgrade compared to the Gamecube version in terms of presentation. Lighting effects are missing, the graphics are terrible for a Playstation 2 title released in 2004 and, for some reason, there's a bug that resets the ammo of your guns to default value after you finish a level. It does have online multiplayer to compensate for its drawbacks, but it certainly feel like Climax didn't put much effort into this version.
  • Scrappy Weapon: The combine harvester vehicle, which is thankfully only available in the unlockable level called The Silk Road, is an absolute nightmare to use. Not only is it sluggish to steer and navigate the vehicle, its crushing area is deceptively small and you also have tons of were-bull enemies coming at you and knocking it around, resulting in most players not using it.
  • That One Attack: Anything that can set you on fire should be avoided at all costs, as it melts through your health in seconds.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The game was given the age rating of 12 in the UK.
