  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: By hiding the band name, the group was able to really strike it big in the Philippines due to the country's New Wave DJs, who were always on the prowl for a rare gem. They also had a following in Japan amongst teen girls due to Ricky's fine looks.
  • Glurge: "More To Lose" is this trope combined with New Wave; the single is a Break Up Song, but its overtly sentimental composition (combining both a piano riff and cloying synthesised main melody line) & mawkish lyrics ("we tore our hearts with jagged truths") make it more sappy and narmy than the Tear Jerker it's supposed to be. Ricky Gervais's mediocre vocals (it sounds like he's just speaking, for crying out loud!) do not help matters.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Outside of the Philippines, the only reason anyone cares about the band is due to Ricky Gervais' pre-fame involvement.
  • Narm: Ricky's vocals...aren't very good. To be precise, he has a hard time hitting the high notes, and it occasionally sounds like he's just speaking rather than trying to sing on-key. While mediocre vocalists are nothing new in New Wave, note  in "More To Lose", the despair of the lyrics is brought down by his singing's lack of technical ability.
  • Tear Jerker: All their songs except "Tell Her", but "More To Lose" is the finest example. The slightly triumphant instrumentation is only accentuated by the somber lyrics.
