  • Adorkable: Between the bow-ties, slightly fastidious manner, and being obsessed with his job in a kind of sweet, innocent way, Henry is nerdy-cute. His idea of a fun weekend is eating a well-crafted salad, he can barely say the word 'turnt', and after he spends a few moments talking to his yogurt in an English accent, even he realizes he needs to do something fun.
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: In episode 12, Freddy wonders how his relationship with Eliza will work if Henry controls much of what she says and does, a fact that is proven when Eliza says she has to call her sister because Henry told her to. Freddy essentially suggests that Henry is much more controlling of Eliza than his role should have.
  • Audience-Alienating Premise: The show's marketing unfortunately did way too much playing up of Eliza's starting point as a vapid Internet celebrity, making many viewers stay away as they didn't want to spend a whole show watching such a person, without knowing it's actually all about her trying to improve herself.
  • Cult Classic: The show wasn't well received by critics (at least initially, many noted the later episodes showed a lot of improvement) while the ratings slipped after the first episode and never recovered. Despite this, the show acquired a passionate fanbase who dearly missed it after the cancellation. Karen Gillan and John Cho have both stated that people still ask them about the show even years after it ended and that they're aware how missed it is.
  • Narm Charm: The show pulls out the most cliche of romcom moments and makes them charming. Case in point: Henry chasing an upset Eliza on a horse. When Elize points it out, he insists that "It was the least attractive horse in the stable!"
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Henry was too serious and didn't provide much comedy as the Only Sane Man. Once the show starts Growing the Beard though, he mellows out and his dorkiness and awkwardness are better-incorporated and gelled better with the humor the rest of the cast provided.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: We saw Eliza's fall from grace, but it would have meant more if most of her e-fame in the first place wasn't told in footnotes. Although this could be to show that Eliza's supposed e-fame wasn't nearly as vast as she thought it was (she is supposed to be full of herself).
