• Alternate Character Interpretation: Is James Pritchard a hard man making hard choices or an arrogant Dirty Cop asshole who was more interested in his own sense of justice and pride than anything resembling genuine good?
• Moral Event Horizon: It turns out that James Pritchard isn't the first person that Otto has brought back from the dead, merely the first one who proved to be compatible with Mary. The previous ones have simply been kicked out of the house.
• The Scrappy: Otto. Even allowing for mental health issues, he's still incredibly selfish and immature, frequently impeding James' investigations just because he can, and it's also very clear that he'd rather Mary not have a life outside of him and their company.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A lot of people think a man successfully brought back from the dead invokes a lot more interesting plots and questions than a police procedural.
