YMMV / Scream Queens (2008)

  • Contested Sequel: Not the show, but the fake movie trailers. The trailer in Season 2 is boring compared to really funny Season 1, although Season 1 had more time to show their trailer.
  • Elimination Houdini
    • Jessica in Season 1, who was called out virtually every week for inconsistent performances and downright weird acting choices, but managed to outlast girls like Sarah (who had even won Leading Lady, to which Jessica had never come close) or Marissa, who were eliminated for comparatively nitpicky reasons and had much better track records
    • Sierra in Season 2, who managed to be on the bottom 2 for the first 2 episodes. Though she managed to improve, the judges felt that she was still not skilled enough, so they axed her at 5th.
    • Exemplified with Gabby in season 2, who managed to win the whole thing. She actually gave very good performances... that is, when she wasn't zoning out on set, making huge mistakes and not listening to Tim Sullivan's instructions. As a result, she frequently found herself up for elimination and only staying on because one of her competitors screwed up even worse than she did that week. She is told outright that she would've been the first girl eliminated had she not won immunity that week. This may have been why she had such a small role in Saw 3D.
  • Hypocrite: Jessica in Season 1 felt disdain for the girls who would wear a nude bra for the Director's Cut challenge, but when it was her turn to act, she went fully topless instead.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Lina from Season 1 played it straight by becoming too boastful in her confession.
    • Michelle, also from Season 1, she basically made herself like an A-list as the weeks went on.
    • Tai from Season 2.
  • The Scrappy: Hoo boy. Given the cattiness of the girls (particularly in Season 1), there's almost too many to count, but Lina managed to stand out as the worst of the worst, being unapologetically racist, homophobic, unprofessional, and arrogant. Even the judges got sick of her attitude and ultimately axed Lina for her total unprofessionalism on set.
  • Screwed by the Network: Due to the fact that the role for season 2 ends up as the last movie in the Saw franchise.
  • Undesirable Prize: For all the various and complex training that the girls went through, the ultimate prize ended up as... a small role in the Saw movie. Season 2's Gabby West in particular got virtually no lines before her character was splattered, compared to season 1's Tanedra Howard, who was the star of the opening trap and had multiple scenes afterward in both that movie and the next. (Though see Elimination Houdini above.)
  • The Woobie: Lindsay in season 1, whose anxiety and self-confidence issues served as her main hurdle. During the challenge where the contestants are told to focus on what they hate in order to express anger, Lindsay tells the Confession Cam that she was focusing on herself.
