YMMV / Scooby-Doo! and the Monster of Mexico

• Americans Hate Tingle: Given the rather poorly investigated handling of El Chupacabras and Mexican culture in general, the movie is not the most popular of the series among Mexican fans.
• Contested Sequel: Because of Critical Backlash the movie is either considered one of the worst Scooby-Doo movies ever or a fun movie in it's own right even if So Okay, It's Average.
• Critical Backlash: Given that during a while it was universally regarded as one of the worst Scooby-Doo movies if not the worst, is quite common to see people finally seeing it and just finding it to be an average installment that got too much hate.
• So Okay, It's Average: The consensus among those who don't hate it is that it's a fun and colorful mystery but hardly anything particularly memorable.
• The Woobie: Luis is very sympathetic, having lost his father and learning that his fiancée is a remorseless Gold Digger.
• Vindicated by History: When it was released, it was considered the nadir of the Scooby-Doo Direct-to-Video Film Series for having a poor handling of the Mexican culture, a rather uninteresting plot and became associated with all the issues fans had with post-Cyber Chase movies. As time has passed and more poorly received movies got more hate from the fandom, some fans have revisited the movie and finded to be an average Scooby-Doo movie that while not one of the peaks of the series, it's fairly fun on it's own right. Even if it's still not a fan favorite you will have a hard time finding anyone who thinks it's the worst of the series, unless they dropped the franchise around this period of time.
