YMMV / Scissor Seven

  • Awesome Music:
    • The main theme with lyrics: 剪刀刺客 (动画《刺客伍六七》主题曲) [1], is an amazing rock piece perfectly capturing Seven's character in both lyrics and rythm.
    • Its lyricless remix 一刀七段(電吉他版)[2] is just as amazing with a modified breakdown for flavor!
    • The Opening theme of season 3 暗影刺客, somehow manages to mix rock with a chinese guitar, all of which with a flair of tragedy. Perfect for the season's mood.
  • Complete Monster::
    • The Killer League Leader is an unscrupulous man who runs his organization of assassins for profit and power. The League is responsible for countless murder-for-hire cases across the world, with the Leader giving free reign to the likes of Redtooth and White Fox to cause death everywhere they go. Not above getting his own hands dirty, the Leader wiped out the entire kingdom of Qing Yun in a single night, killing Blue/Green Phoenix's family and leaving the boy to burn alive in the wreckage. Dismissive to the lives of his minions, even his trusted Shadow Killers, and willing to endanger all of Chicken Island to satisfy a petty grudge against Seven, the Leader has more than earned his spot as the most ruthless killer in the world.
    • Season 4: White Fox is an eerily calm assassin and one of the Killer League's seven elite Shadow Killers. Already infamous for committing a massacre in the country of Stern/Stan known as the "Shining Incident", White Fox makes his way to Chicken Island in his search for Seven. Having the ability to create an energy beam which can be used to blow up objects or people, White Fox uses his ability to blow up the populated beach of Chicken Island and its inhabitants. White Fox reveals to Seven he plans to massacre the inhabitants of the Island to draw him out and leaves corpses of his victims in a rampage across the Island. White Fox tries to murder all of Seven's friends to draw him out, and later also gleefully mocks and torments Spring-Wind Ichiro as a coward during their fight.
  • Hollywood Homely: Seven is repeatedly called ugly by other characters, his abysmal concept of self-care doesn't help, and when he does try to look good he doesn't make the best choices. But it doesn't stop the show from framing him as cool during his awesome moments, and judging from his past look, he can clean up very nicely. This leads him to have his fair share amount of fans.
  • Magnificent Bastard:
    • The Prince of Stern/Stan is the new head of the country of Stan/Stern and desires to usher in a better world through technology. The Prince scouts out Chicken Island and preps it for invasion to harvest its energy source. When he invades, the Prince is able to effortlessly match the heroes blow for blow using his technology and tactics. When defeated, the Prince instead opts for a more subtle approach and has the energy harvested in a more stealthy manner. Gaining a friendship with Cola, the Prince goes out of his way to help cure her of her illness, even discovering and dragging the doctor who can help her to her location. Helping defend the island, the Prince tricks White Fox into letting him go for a better challenge later well he uses it to upgrade himself and come close to beating him.
    • Green/Blue Phoenix is the most brilliant Shadow Killer in the League. Once the prince of Qingyun, Phoenix witnessed the slaughter of his people and his family at the hands of the Killer League Leader, and so swore vengeance. Spending years honing his skills to become one of the most dangerous assassins on the planet, Phoenix earned himself a spot in the Killer League and immediately began working to subvert it from the inside-out. Phoenix trains Thirteen to become a deadly warrior, and uses her to help him protect and uplift the powerful Seven until he is a genuine rival to the League. After mortally wounding Redtooth, turning Seven into a monster to lure out the League, and isolated its Leader, Phoenix duels the Leader and nearly succeeds in killing him for vengeance, only halted by Thirteen being put in danger. Even as he is left defenseless at the Leader's mercy, Phoenix is content as he has saved Thirteen and laid the groundwork for Seven to destroy the League for good.
  • One True Pairing: Seven and Thirteen appears to be the most popular ship among the fandom.
