  • Alternate Aesop Interpretation:
    • Bob is meant to represent toxic relationships and other forms of escape people turn to in order to feel loved, and it's stated that he isn't actually capable of feeling or understanding love himself. However, his childish and affectionate personality reminded a number of fans of pets, children, or the mentally disabled, making it seem like he in fact can feel love even if his expression of it and his needs are extremely taxing on Luna. Some viewers who saw him in this light drew the much less palatable conclusion that the message was instead "loved ones who need lots of care are a burden that should be disposed of".
    • Others believed that Bob was a better representation of an abuse victim rather than an abuser, citing his mistaken belief that painful and abusive treatment is an expression of "love", and his continuously going back to those who mistreat him because he's desperate for affirmation.
    • Some can even argue that Yeshua is the real abuser and is projecting himself onto Bob, given how the way he interacts with Luna can remind one of a controlling abuser with their abuse victim.
  • Awesome Music: Duane Joseph Olson and Halie Anderson sing "Baby It's Cold Outside" in-character as Ludwig and Luna. And it's adorable.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Almost everything Lucy does. Repeatedly talking about wanting to murder and mutilate Hyzenthlay and Winifred? Funny, if dark. Expressing this to Hyzenthlay with detailed illustrations of the two of them in a very intimate pose, but with each subsequent illustration showing more of Hyzenthlay's body parts removed? Hilarious.
  • Friendly Fandoms: Many fans of Hazbin Hotel are also fans of this show, and vice versa, thanks to both being series' about a dysfunctional group of Creepy Cute monsters and featuring tons of dark humor. The fact that, by sheer coincidence, Satellite City's Halloween video for 2019 was uploaded on the same day as the HH pilot just added to the crossover appeal. The fact the Hazbin Hotel Amino account has expressed they enjoy the thought of a crossover also helped a lot.
  • LGBT Fanbase: As crazy as she is, the confirmation that Lucy was a lesbian (who still flirted with men for intimidation) delighted gay fans, calling her an icon.
  • Nightmare Fuel: EVERYTHING about Jones in Episode 12. Even Ludwig is scared of him. He (it?) is a terrifying, spindly, Slender Man-like thing that's shaped roughly like a human, but unnaturally thin, so tall he fills an entire alleyway and causes the video to distort by his very presence. We get to see him hunting down some poor bastard on the streets of London in the dead of night, stalking towards him in the creepiest possible fashion, and lunging at him with a horrifying scream. And he's apparently the one responsible for Winnifred's condition. Oh, and that's not even getting into the voice, his ability to imitate other people's voices, or the fact that he can track you through any form of communication - even written letters. Sweet dreams!
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Nearly every single Kivouackian indulges in horrible acts of murder, brutality and torture while gleefully enjoying every moment of it as it's part of their nature. The more rational/calmer ones might not indulge in it as much, but their backstories and what they talk about often is in perfect sync with this line of thinking. Worse yet, said rational Kivouackians are supportive of Ludwig's plan to essentially breed out all life on Earth with their own kind via genetic experiments, which will eventually lead to the extinction of humanity. And not one of them cares. Even the Token Human doesn't care and regularly murders innocent people over the smallest thing. Needless to say, it becomes a tall order to care one whit about their problems or even their small moments of self-reflection as it just comes off as selfish and self-indulgent.
  • Unexpected Character: Of all the other online content creators Fennah would collaborate with to do a (non-canon for SC) review of The Wall, it's safe to say that The Nostalgia Critic was somewhere near the very bottom of the list.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Bob was meant to be portrayed as a childish and emotionally manipulative sociopath that deserved to die for exhausting Luna. However, his demeanor and notable obliviousness had people instead seeing his lack of understanding on love more as innocence rather than any truly selfish reason. The fact he resembles an adorable fish did not help matters.
  • The Woobie:
    • Poor, poor little Hyzenthlay.
    • Winnifred's not far behind her, poor thing. Quick test: try to find a comments section without someone who wants to give her a hug. You will fail.
      • Worst part is it's suggested that because of her former high-class position that she enjoyed with pride, feeling pity or sadness for her now current low situation actually makes her feel even worse.
    • Even Lucy Lacemaker falls under this. Sam implies that beneath her carefree and wild nature hides someone a lot weaker than she lets off to be.
