YMMV / Sarah Stock

Go To

  • Audience-Alienating Era: Her time in Mexican America for reasons detailed below. She might have avoided this, since she did hold the Knockouts Tag Team Championships, and produced some good matches against Tara and Brooke Tessmacher. Except their reign was over after just three months, and they were reduced to feuding with Eric Young and ODB - including an embarrassing segment where Sarita and Rosita tried to interrupt his wedding wearing lingerie.
  • Badass Decay: Dark Angel was the most feared female user of La Reinera, period. Even when she didn't win matches in Mexico, the two out of three falls standard meant she could still rack up submissions at a rapid rate, but for whatever reason she didn't make people submit in TNA, turning it from a dreaded submission hold to a higher energy lower impact version of La Arkangelina. She retained her status with the other hold and even had people confusing it with La Reinera.
  • Ethnic Scrappy: A weird example, considering she's not actually Latina at all. But that didn't stop her from being billed from Mexico in TNA (with a justification that she'd wrestled there for a good portion of her career). That wasn't so bad as a face - as she simply wrestled in a lucha libre style. But once she turned heel, she started salsa dancing and portraying a stereotypical Spicy Latina.
  • Fans Prefer the New Her: Sarita briefly wrestled with a mask on due to suffering facial paralysis. There's no denying the mask looked incredibly cool.
  • Funny Moments: When facing Sara Del Rey at SHIMMER, the crowd breaks out into a chant for "Sarah", and doesn't make it clear which one they're chanting for.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: She and her kayfabe cousin from TNA Thea Trinidad would be released from WWE within a month of each other in 2020.
  • Like You Would Really Do It: In a vacuum there is absolutely no reason for Dark Angel not to beat Io Shirai, but no one believed Shirai was going to drop the World Of Stardom in what was likely Stock's final match in Japan and possibly in her whole career.
  • Narm: Her efforts in the strap match against Velvet Sky were commendable, but the crowd was lost because the strap would not stay on. Sarita was simply declared the winner.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: She had established herself as a heel in TNA, and a surprisingly good one at that. Her feud with Velvet Sky seemed to be setting her up as a solo star. But TNA's insistence on pushing Madison Rayne as the top heel, despite crowds and fans alike growing sick of her, led to Sarita being put back into the tag division. Then by the time that had run its course, it was now Gail Kim as the Spotlight-Stealing Squad, meaning Sarita never got to do anything of note as a singles competitor.
