YMMV / Samurai Jack - S5 E8: "XCIX"

• Broken Base: The Relationship Upgrade between Jack and Ashi turned into a divisive issue pretty fast: before this episode, viewers argued on whether or not their relationship should be a romantic one or purely platonic akin to father/daughter. Criticism against the romance ranged from the massive age gap between the two characters, or it was tacked on very late into the series and not given enough time to properly develop or it just simply boiled down to "straight pairings are bad."
• Inferred Holocaust: Jack comments that despite the ship being a prison, there aren't any other prisoners. It is heavily implied Lazarus-92 ate them all.
• Narm: The Big Damn Kiss at the end of the episode comes out of nowhere, and the choice of "Everybody Loves Somebody" may elicit chuckles over a 50's song playing in the credits instead of the typical ending theme.
