• Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Sam actually just imagining Bangs can talk, is she hallucinating that he's talking, or can he really talk? At one point, she says, "Wouldn't Father say that a cat's talking was moonshine?", which seems to suggest that she doesn't know whether she's making it up or not, but on the other hand, the story seems to imply she is indeed making it up.
