- Alternative Character Interpretation: Rei's Last Words to Usagi are her admitting that she should have kissed Yuuichirou before their departure. Did she say that because she really did like him? Or was it her way of giving a win to her friendly rival after their long string of petty arguments?
- Fridge Logic: Why didn't Queen Beryl send the DD Girls, or other high ranking monsters, to destroy the girls sooner?
- Memetic Mutation: Two panels of Sailor Mercury that feature one with her saying "I won't die" only for her to be dead on the ground in the second. This meme is often used for fans to describe themselves undergoing trivial hardships.
- Mis-blamed: DiC and the Moral Guardians are blamed for the heavy editing of this episode and the next one, but apparently Japan wasn't too keen on the episode either, It reportedly made little girls in Japan so upset that they wanted to stay home from school due to the Shocking Moments it had. They really couldn't take any chances localizing it.
- Shocking Moments: No one would have expected a silly Magical Girl cartoon to brutally kill off its main leads and treat their deaths so seriously.
- Tearjerker: Usagi having to witness and live through the deaths of each of her friends.
