• Tear Jerker:
  • Watching poor Giuseppe's whimpering as Gunn insists that there is no room on Lulubelle for the Italian soldier, who must be left behind. Fortunately, when the rest of his men look at him pleadingly one last time. Gunn then changes his mind and allows Giuseppe to come along.
  • The death of Clarkson, one of the British soldiers. Despite their best efforts, Clarkson eventually succumbs to his wounds and dies.
