YMMV / Rygar

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Its music was conducted by a live orchestra, resulting in a soaring and at times breathtaking symphonic score. The Colosseo, Geryon Hill, Poiseidonian Shrine and Arcadia themes are but a few of the game's memorable tunes.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Harmonia's 90's style song number near the end of the 2002 game.
  • I Am Not Shazam: "Rygar" is actually the name of the final boss. The main character has no name. He is simply "the Warrior of Argus", or "the Legendary Warrior". Nevertheless, when both the arcade, and NES versions were released in North America, it was decided that "Rygar" would be the main character's name (the final boss became "Ligar as a consequence), which carries over to the PS2 / Wii game.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: The biggest criticism of Rygar: The Battle Of Argus's Wii port. While it's a competently handled port that plays just fine, there's almost new gameplay elements aside from some minor and clearly tacked-on motion control moves and an optional endurance mode (where the player is arbitrarily forced to rely entirely on motion controls), and the graphics were unacceptable by Wii standards.
  • Narm: Most of the dialogue in Legendary Adventure is very poorly acted and comes off as downright ridiculous.
    • "I SWEAR MY VICTORY TO THIS FEATHER!"
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Typhon boss in Legendary Adventure, a Multiple Head Case whose heads are fire breathing, shrieking baby heads.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: The Stage 1 Song for the NES Version is derivative of Queen's Vultan's Theme - Attack of the Hawkmen for the movie of Flash Gordon (1980).
