• Crack Pairing: Barrett is old enough to be Aria's father (and Aria herself isn't even ten yet), but that hasn't stopped some people from suggesting a Teacher/Student Romance combined with Jail Bait Wait between the two (even though he himself is also married and has a kid Aria's age). It helps that Aria looks somewhat old for her age and Barrett's design hasn't aged a day.
• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Yue the wandering merchant proved to be a surprisingly popular marriage candidate even though she received barely any promotional spotlight (and if you marry her, some characters will even comment on this). She even gets a cameo in Rune Factory 3 selling her wares!
  • An official character popularity poll in Japan has Barrett placing in first and beating out Kyle by about a hundred points. This probably contributed to his appearance in Rune Factory 4.
• The Scrappy: Jake is almost universally hated for his obnoxious personality and nasal-sounding English voice clips (a stark contrast to his smooth Japanese voice). It doesn't help that he's the love interest for Cecilia and if you want to marry Cecilia yourself, you have to do it before Summer 12 Year 2, the earliest rival marriage in the game.
• Suspiciously Similar Song:
  • The Spring theme at the farm takes after the Scottish folk tune "Loch Lomond".
  • The Fall theme sounds like "Melodies of Life" from Final Fantasy IX.
• Tear Jerker: Kyle telling his child that because he's fused with Fiersome, he has to return to the Forest of Beginnings, is an extremely sad scene. It's a massive gut punch to the player, who spent the entire second act of the game looking for him, and it's also a departure from the more lighthearted fare of the other games in this series. Fortunately, the final act involves bringing him back permanently.
