- Hilarious in Hindsight: Roobarb's quip to Custard after A Day in the Limelight; "Carry on like this and one day you might get your own TV series". Thirty years later, Custard was ascended to title character with Roobarb for the revival (with many fans being fully convinced he was for the original too).
- I Am Not Shazam: The show was never titled Roobarb And Custard. Oddly this is a case that not only took on with fans, but the creators themselves, with much merchandise and even some DVD releases using the "(And Custard)" moniker. This almost certainly played part in the revival show's title as well.
