YMMV / Rolf Kauka's Once Upon a Time

• Padding: The cartoony chase between the boar, the hunters, their dogs, and the other woodland denizens, and the sequences of Master Shoelace and the notary trying to get down from the roof add nothing to the story.
• Unintentional Uncanny Valley:
  • Maria and the Prince's more realistic designs put them at odds with the very cartoony characters and, most notably in regards to certain expressions Maria makes, puts them firmly in this.
  • Mary-Lou gets this as well whenever she is rotoscoped.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Maria's father, Mr. Bottle, gets to share in the happy ending and even looks smug as the prince comes for Maria, as if to say he raised his daughter right. Keep in mind, he spent the whole movie getting drunk while his wife and stepdaughter tormented Maria.
• Vanilla Protagonist: Maria is good, kind, and pure almost to the point of blandness.
