YMMV / Rockman Xover

Go To

  • Americans Hate Tingle: In Japan, Xover hit #3 of iTunes' Top Free Apps and at least #63 of iTunes' Top Grossing Apps. Americans, who were still sore about Capcom submarining various Mega Man projects back in 2011, unleashed gargantuan levels of vitriol against it, leading to Capcom deciding not to release it in the Americas.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Fans were pleased with the return of Kalinka Cossack.
    • Zehr, one of the fan submissions, was never officially upgraded to full character status, only receiving a cameo with a personal Battle Memory. It's not uncommon to see Japanese fans still include him in their works.
    • Over-1 himself. His design and customizability are often cited as the game's redeeming qualities, to the point some wish he could show up in other games in the future.
  • Fan Nickname: Fans disillusioned with both the game and the franchise have taken to pronouncing the title as "Rockman's Over."
  • Fridge Logic: OVER-1 is said to be a new Reploid in the storyline, but the definition of a Reploid according to X is any android replicated from X's original design. Does this mean this takes place after X was sealed away by Dr. Light? Also, if we're to take Maverick Hunter X as canon, Light seems to be on the verge of death after completing X if that's the case.
  • Tainted by the Preview: At first, all the reveal it was going to be a social RPG on iOS wasn't well received by the fanbase. Afterwards, when the gameplay was shown at TGS 2012, said gameplay wasn't well received either. And upon the game's release, fans were less than happy about it.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Some fans are accusing this, as it's a crossover between all of the Mega Man...on iOS, a casual social RPG, and is using the Unintentional Uncanny Valley art style of the Mega Man X iOS port. Compounding this, the Mega Men that OVER-1 set out to rescue are absent (not counting Battle Memory and one set of armor). Aditionally, all the series are kept as rigidly separate as possible, with only a single connecting element (OVER-1) to indicate that there's a crossover going on at all.
