- Broken Base: The quality of the unit, the quality of its games, how influential it was for the NES, and whether Nintendo should consider the idea of reviving R.O.B. like they did with Kid Icarus.
- Common Knowledge: "Family Computer Robot" has only ever been abbreviated as "Robot", never "FCR".
- Cult Classic: Yes, it may be rather clumsy and dated nowadays, but that doesn't stop it from being loved by many.
- Presumed Flop: A stigma brought on by way too many amateur critics is that R.O.B. was somehow a "failure" or "flop". Even ignoring the fact that the Trojan Horse role worked, R.O.B. was sold as part of a "deluxe set" bundled with the NES, meaning the only way R.O.B. could have flopped was if the NES itself failed.
- Vindicated by History: It was originally seen as a useless add-on, but is now seen as an important part of Nintendo history and has gained quite a fan-following due to multiple appearances in series such as Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros..
