YMMV / Robin War

Go To

  • Broken Base: There is considerable debate as to whether or not the "We Are Robin" movement is in the right in the first place. Are they underqualified teens interfering in matters that are out of their league and making problems worse in Gotham, or is the formation of a street-level vigilante movement merely a symptom of the real problem: Gotham's inability to protect itself in the absence of Batman?
  • Fridge Brilliance: Jason supporting the We Are Robin movement is surprising at first, considering his fate as Robin. Then you realize that he comes from the very same place as many of the teenagers, and that he no longer blames Bruce for what happened to him. Rather, he sees his time as Robin as the moment he was able to make something of his life, rather than time spent as a Child Soldier.
  • Win Back the Crowd:
    • After being missing from Batman: Endgame and Batman and Robin Eternal), Damian finally returns to Gotham and gets featured in a Batfamily event series.
    • Those who were initially lukewarm towards Duke being a Robin are more impressed with him in this book.
    • Those disappointed with Batman and Robin Eternal are enjoying the Batfamily interactions more here.
  • The Woobie: Damian returns to Gotham, only to find out that his father's "dead", that Batman has been replaced by a police-sanctioned and corporate-sponsored mecha, and that a group of untrained teenagers have usurped the name of "Robin", a title that means a lot to him, as the time he spent in the role resulted in his straying from the self-destructive life path that had been pre-destined for him.
