YMMV / Robert Rodriguez

Go To

  • Special Effects Failure: Rodriguez's penny-pinching productions practices have not aged well into the digital age. His near-total reliance on chroma-keying and low-tech CGI rather blatantly show how little money the films are made for. Nowhere is this more noticeable than his family-friendly movies, which feature hastily-rendered backgrounds and monsters, and Machete, where all of the muzzle flashes, spurting blood and decapitations are clearly done in post. Compare this to Alita: Battle Angel, a film he was only hired to direct rather than one of his indie passion projects and which looks amazing.
