• Money, Dear Boy: In later years, Kanigher was generally proud of the fact that he wrote because it earned him a living, rather than for the art, though on the way he definitely wrote some genuinely groundbreaking stories.
• Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Kanigher generally just sat down and wrote, without plotting or planning. He famously wrote a nine-page story in his lunch hour once, because the inker had mistaken a note saying "Drop an inch"^* As in, Kanigher asking artist Grandenetti to adjust the art down an inch to make room for the GI Combat title on top for part of the design and inked the cover using that as the title.
