• Hilarious in Hindsight: Straczynski was legally forced to change Flagg's codename to Patriot because Howard Chaykin had already trademarked the name for American Flagg!, and Strazcynski threw in a dig at Chaykin's expense for this inconvenience. A few years later, Chaykin would end up taking over Straczynski's next work, Squadron Supreme, after Straczynski himself quit the series.
• Harsher in Hindsight: When asked why he doesn't arrest Saddam Hussein, Patriot replies that doing so would "only lead to more terrorism in the area". Fast forward several years, and the US invaded Iraq and deposed Hussein... which resulted in the formation of the terrorist group ISIS.
