• Epileptic Trees: Due to Margaret's vision with the oven and David's remark in the hotel room that "it stinks in here," some have theorized that a young and traumatized Margaret, having free-birthed on a bed with no medication, had undergone postpartum psychosis and killed Ben after putting him in the oven, and the ensuing plot is her delusions of guilts and coping with the memories due to the stress of Abbie leaving for college. Others simply see it as a modern retelling of a Greek myth.
