• Darkhorse Casting: All of the actors were and are basically unknown, a deliberate choice by De Palma.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: The film sparked pretty huge political backlash due to the 'Anti-American' sentiment it allegedly incited. Of particular note is a terrorist attack it inadvertently inspired when someone saw the rape scene taken from the movie and labeled as real footage, prompting the individual to attack American servicemen.
