YMMV / Rebel Cops

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The title theme, "Rebel Cops", uses its overall upbeat tone to establish that the titular cops are some of the most heroic characters in the This Is The Police franchise.
    • "Listen Up", which plays during the mission select and equipment screens, helps establish the seriousness of the situation while still reminding the player that they're the heroes of Ripton.
    • "Ragnarok", a track that can play during open combat (after the alarm has been raised), combines synth, drums, and a saxophone to establish an intense, high-stress feeling - an excellent fit for a combat system where a single bullet can be fatal.
    • "Angels With Blades", which plays during the game's final mission (and in the endless Rebel Yell mode), re-uses the main melody of Listen Up, combining it with heavy percussion and synths to make a track fitting for the last battle.
  • Demonic Spiders: Melee-wielding enemies. They are not especially resilient nor difficult to hold up, but they are very fast and can kill your officers in one blow if they get close. They're manageable when things are quiet, but if an alarm is raised pray that there isn't more of them around you than what your cops can take out in one turn - because otherwise the survivors will get in your face and you will lose people.
  • Moment of Awesome/Heartwarming Moments:
    • Optional tasks give you plenty opportunities for these with requests you're fulfilling for citizens of Ripton. Whether it's rescuing people from criminal captivity, retrieving family heirlooms, medicine, or other items stolen by the mob or obtaining evidence of crimes, most of these tasks allow you to be the most unambiguously heroic in the whole series so far.
    • Detaining and capturing both Witt brothers alive before they can get themselves killed in their suicidal assault on the Ginzburg mansion. There is zero prompting for you to resolve it like this and zero reward afterwards, but it still can feel nice to save them from their pointless deaths, doubly so because it means their sister and elderly father will not be left alone in the world.
  • Too Awesome to Use: Some of the Command Center abilities that use Rebel Points are incredibly useful if you can spare the points to use them. King of this trope, however, is Shock And Awe, which costs a whopping 200 Rebel Points. However, it does place every visible enemy under arrest, provided the alarm hasn't been raised.
