  • Anti-Climax Boss: Despite becoming the most powerful villain in the series thanks to the Reality Gauntlet, Freakshow is taken down surprisingly easily, especially compared to the two previous TV-movie villains. This is likely because Danny, rather than developing a new Ghost Power to help him overcome the villain like before, resorted to trickery.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: For many fans, the climax would be a lot more enjoyable if part of it wasn't incredibly similar to the climax of Disney's Aladdin.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • It seems like Jazz and Freakshow start to bond when they both admit growing up feeling like their parents liked ghosts more than them. Nothing is done with this, and the moment is never mentioned again.
    • Um...WHY did Danny erase his parents' memories of his Secret Identity after they said they accepted him and would therefore never hunt down his alter ego and try to take him apart molecule by molecule ever again?
    • We never see Valerie's reaction to Danny's Secret Identity being revealed.
    • We never see Vlad's reaction to losing the leverage that prevents Danny from revealing his secret.
    • Just how Vlad would react to the Reality Gauntlet being revealed and/or to Maddie being held hostage by Freakshow would make an interesting plot.
  • Tough Act to Follow: The first two 1-hour specials are highly praised by fans of the show, for upping the stakes and each featuring notable changes to the status quo ("Reign Storm" had Danny get a boost in public opinion after spending a good chunk of the series as a complete Hero with Bad Publicity, while "The Ultimate Enemy" finally ended Jazz's Secret Secret-Keeper status, revealing to Danny that she'd known the truth about him for a while). This episode relying entirely on Status Quo Is God by pressing the Reset Button on Danny's parents learning the truth about him made a lot of people feel cheated in comparison.
