YMMV Tropes:

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Does Narumi have a small bit of the sixth sense that only allows her a small glimpse of ghosts and spirits, which is why she finds them so scary? Ultimately resolved. In episode 12 she is seen interacting with the ghost children without the use of a cellphone camera or any other means.
  • Awesome Music: Episode 8 has a gentle, serene instrumental solo version of the show's main theme, making the ascension of Moriya-sensei's childhood friend all the more heart-wrenchingly beautiful.
  • Les Yay: Narumi and Hibiki. The show gives out a lot of blatant subtexts between the two to the point that you can just see them as an Official Couple. Ero-Neko lampshades it a couple times, especially in the last scene in the anime, which is the two holding hands while sleeping and the last words are "Yuri? Oh, yes!".
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Before even the opening credits start for the first episode, we see a creepy ghost boy clinging to Hibiki's leg in an obvious Shout-Out to The Grudge.
    • The Beach Episode has hordes of pale arms reaching out of the water. They're all friendly, but still.
  • Woolseyism: It would be hard to translate Japanese slang, especially from the '80s, so the teenage girl speaks in "valley girl" slang, the Western equivalent, in the version airing on Crunchyroll.
