YMMV / Rainbow Butterfly Unicorn Kitty

Go To

  • And You Thought It Would Fail: The show was ridiculed for obvious reasons, but after it was moved from Nicktoons to Nickelodeon, it was advertised much more than any acquired show of theirs had been. Tons of merchandise for the show started rolling out as well. However this didn't last very long as it would eventually be bounced back to Nicktoons and would be quietly canned after that.
  • Crossover Ship: Various Tumblr users have gotten used to the idea of Unikitty! and Felicity dating each other.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Who could've guessed that the show would be developing one with the fans of Unikitty!? It developed a feud due to the unfortunate coincidence of both shows featuring unicorn kittens. Subsequent to it being announced that RBUK would be airing on Nicktoons in the US, tons of fans over Twitter were quick to pass the show off as a shameless rip-off of their beloved show, note  and were even proud that the show was automatically being passed down to Nicktoons even though they'd be angrier if it were any other show.
    • On the bright side though, the Unikitty! Amino has been for the most part, surprisingly kinder to the show, with many drawing crossover fanart of Felicity and Unikitty together. Though of course there are still those who aren't pleased about it. Tumblr has also been kinder to it too, with what little commotion is being made over there about it.
  • Mis-blamed: The people accusing the show of being a rip-off usually blame Nickelodeon for this, however they only acquired the show. Saban Brands was actually the production company for the show before Funrise took over after its closure.
  • Moe:
    • Just LOOK at Felicity!
    • Athena and Miguel definitely count as this as well. Yana... not so much.
    • Chippy. You know, when she's not busy being a Green-Eyed Monster and all.
  • Quirky Work: A cat-rainbow-butterfly-unicorn hybrid, a sun with a realistic human face, and a friendly yeti in a bikini just barely scratch the surface.
  • So Okay, It's Average: A common opinion to those who don't vocally hate or like it. It's not a bad show, but there's nothing all that special about it either.
  • Sweetness Aversion: One of the major complaints of the show is how overly saccharine it is.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: Definitely the sentiment towards the show before it even premiered due to it seeming similar enough to a certain other unicorn cat.
