YMMV / Rachel Platten

  • Cliché Storm: Probably why "Fight Song" and Platten herself aren't remembered as much today.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • The Repurposed Pop Song entry - campaigning for Hilary Clinton to become the first female president. They lost.
    • It was also used in a montage honoring Ellen DeGeneres receiving the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes in 2020. Only a couple of months later, she would suffer a storm of controversy recounting stories of her being a Bad Boss and eventually leading to the cancellation of her talk show.
  • Misaimed Fandom: "Fight Song" has often been used as a girl power anthem akin to Spice Girls songs. The song's actual message is more about overcoming physical or mental health struggles in general, regardless of gender. The accompanying music video features plenty of men in the montage as well.
  • Narm Charm: "Fight Song" might be overused as a motivational song, and be rather cliched, but the quality of the music and Rachel's singing ability still make it rather effective.
