YMMV / Rabbids Go Home

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The original soundtrack, performed by Moldovian brass band Fanfare Vagabontu. Especially the theme song, "Sanie cu Zurgãlãi".
  • Fridge Horror:
    • All those looted dogs and patients are probably screaming in that giant pile of stuff...
    • The first item you get is a fake flying saucer with a woman trapped inside. That woman is at the very bottom of the pile, possibly buried underneath all of that stuff.
    • No matter how hard you look, no matter where you look, there is absolutely no evidence of a fire department or actual police (the closest thing to law enforcement are the Verminators). Nothing about that sentiment feels right.
    • So, did Barney get safely sent back to Earth, or is that him in the moon's orbit with the other stuff?
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The fact that Rabbids are so hated In-Universe is ironic, seeing as Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is seen as a redemption for the franchise after being unfavorably comparing the titular creatures of Minions.
  • Memetic Mutation: A series of Team Fortress 2 fan-videos parodying the typical behavior on each game map (generally titled "The Vicious Cycle of [insert map name here]") uses the song Bãtutã Din Moldova from Rabbids Go Home. And it's an ear worm.
    • Which is funnier when you realize one of the enemies is a person in a Hazmat suit that uses a flamethrower, the enemy's color is even BLUE', which was one of the team colors in Team Fortress 2.Explanation
  • Moral Event Horizon: In one of the last levels, Barney, the terminally ill, quarantined patient you've stolen from the hospital twice is getting married to his beloved Nurse Betty. As the Rabbids, you break up the wedding and steal Barney away from his fiancé yet again. And just in case you didn't realize what a horrible thing you're doing, the ending of the level includes a few extra seconds with Betty looking into the toilet pleading for you to return Barney.
  • Nightmare Fuel: A game about stealing people's stuff with fanfare music, it's surely not the kind of game where you would listen to the background ambiences, and yet, there have been a lot of attention put to them (you can closely hear them while putting pause, and they may change depending on the area you are standing at) and some of them are strange, if not outright eerie.
    • The ambience from the last version of the central city, is quite dark compared to the rest of the game: You can hear crows, sirens, a strange female whispering, people who seems to argue, and a lot of breathing and whispers coming from the Verminators wandering around.
    • The ambience of the levels with the jet engine are composed of screaming and terrified people.
    • In the level Haredevil Rabbids, when you access the dark cavern, strange sounds can be heard echoing: first what seems to be a child-like help call, and an ominous monster-like growl that happen shortly after.
    • In the level Bubble Bed Bonanza, on the turret area, the background ambience is rather atmospheric.
    • The level Hoppy Xmas features a morgue with unfitting music.
    • The game over screen in general, is rather unsettling.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Several gamers had already grown tired of the Rabbids (especially their stealing the title role from Rayman), and hoped that "Rabbids Go Home" meant "Rabbids Go Home, And Give Rayman His Game Series Back". Then this game was actually fun and funny and made the Rabbids likeable all over again. And Rayman got a long overdue platformer revival without Rabbids, eventually.
  • Special Effect Failure: The Rabbids steal a whole plane in the level "Scrap Happy Rabbids". There is zero effort in making sure the plane's model fits down the sewer pipe during the end level's cutscene and you can see the whole model - not even adjusted for size - clipping through the level geometry and partially disappearing during certain camera movements.
  • That One Level: The game has quite a few challenges.
    • The level Till Rabbids Do Us Cart, a map that requires a lot of precise jumps, tiny maneuvers on thin platforms, and perfectly timed hovers with Barney's hospital bed above a lot of bottomless pits. Absolutely grueling on its own, but to make matters even worse, the level has absolutely no Tuba Rabbids whatsoever to store your stuff, meaning that an accidental fall into a bottomless pit will eliminate all of your progress and you'll have to do the entire level on one life in order to unlock all the bonus items.
    • Rabbid-Fire Reaction has a frustrating mechanic. The first part isn’t so bad, where you just need to shake the Wii Remote until it stays in the green long enough. But then there’s the rest. The engine has poor controls and there are bombs everywhere, which makes it easy to rush into them. If you die, you’ll have to restart from the beginning, without any of the collectables you got prior.
    • Totally Tubing is pretty bad. You have to go through the whole level on a tire. Said tire is somewhat difficult to control and will pop if it touches even one cactus, and you’ll have to restart from the last checkpoint if you do just that or fall from an edge. Fortunately, the level gives you some chances at fixing your mistakes when it comes to the items. If you didn’t collect all of the items before the next checkpoint, you can purposely die to try again.
      • Its sequel Haredevil Rabbid is even worse. The level is full of narrow paths and space. Like Totally Tubing, if you touch one cactus or fall, you have to restart from the checkpoint.
