- Alternative Character Interpretation:
- Is Neo naturally villainous or is it a side-effect of her backstory? As a little kid she displayed Troubling Unchildlike Behavior like throwing rocks at squirrels and stabbing a girl's hand with a fork for unspecified reasons. At the same time it's shown that she faced a lot of racism growing up and even her own mother seemed to look down upon her for her Creepy Child behavior. Neo's true Start of Darkness was when she killed and tortured her rapist. Neo was either always destined to become a criminal like her Fallen Hero father Roman or she was spurned into hating people due to her bullied past. To make it more ambiguous, Neo is primarily violent either towards people with an anti-Faunus bias or people who try to harm her (or her father).
- Does Pyrrha's Sports Mom truly love her? Pyrrha doesn't believe so, but it's kept ambiguous.
- Is Weiss really Whitley's Morality Pet or is he faking affections for his twin?
- Moment of Awesome:
- Coco standing up for her girlfriend, Velvet, after she is harassed by Cardin.
- Winter protecting a little girl from the Grimm during the Battle of Beacon.
- In Volume 4, Yang gets An arm made of fire. As one commenter put it "An arm made of fire is the most intensely Yang thing ever.".
- Heartwarming Moments:
- During Volume 3, after winning a match against Team NDGO, Pyrrha congratulates her opponent, Dew Gayl, who in turn says it was an honor to fight against her. Pyrrha even offers to replace the crystal on Dew's spear, which she broke during the match.
- Jaune's father accepting him for who he is, and being proud of his accomplishments. He still gets grounded, though.
